Two people died on the spot after a road accident in Kariguini along Kenol -Murang’a road on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
The accident is said to have occurred after a pickup heading towards Kenol had a head-on collision with a lorry which was coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the pickup and his passenger died on the spot while those in the lorry escaped unhurt.
According to eyewitnesses, the pickup driver was attempting to overtake a matatu and consequently hit the lorry.

They noted that the area had become a deadly black spot owing to the number of accidents that have occurred in recent months.
“About two months ago, two accidents occurred at the same place and lives were lost,” one of the witnesses stated.
Consequently, the area residents have appealed to relevant authorities to take their plea into consideration and have put safety measures to help drivers observe road safety.
“The road was being re-carpeted but the marking was not done neither do we have road signs,” a witness added.
The bodies of the two were moved to General Kago Mortuary in Thika and the vehicles were towed to Maragua Police station as investigations begin.
