20-year-old confesses to killing his grandmother after joining Illuminati

A 20-year-old man who allegedly killed his grandmother by slitting her throat has confessed to having committed the gruesome murder.

Abdulaziz Ali Swaleh, who appeared before Mombasa principal magistrate Vincent Adet, in his two-minute chilling confession informed the court that he had joined an Illuminati cult that instructed him to commit the act of killing his grandmother.

“It’s true l killed her. I’m sorry, l ask for forgiveness but l only did it after joining Illuminati,” he told the court.

The suspect further went on to state that he was mentally disturbed by the murder he committed, telling the court that he needed drugs urgently to control his anxiety.

“My mind is not okay, l feel disturbed and this is because there are drugs that l often use, l need them,” he said before he went silent.

Swaleh had been arraigned before the court by detectives under a miscellaneous application seeking to have him detained at the central police station to allow detectives more time to complete investigations.

In an affidavit tabled before the court sworn by police Constable Mohammed Mapenzi attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), through prosecution counsel Hillary Isiaho, informed the court that the accused person was a suspect in a murder incident where it is alleged that he murdered his grandmother by slitting her throat using a kitchen knife.

Isiaho requested the court to have the suspect detained for 14 days to allow police complete investigations.

“In the interest of justice, good order, public safety and security of the suspect we ask to be granted the days as sought to enable the suspect to undergo a mental assessment test, key witnesses to record statements and finalize investigations,” he said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect murdered his grandmother on January 21, 2023, in her sleep after she declined to give him money to purchase narcotics drugs.

The magistrate ordered the suspect to be detained at the central police station for 14 days to allow police complete investigations.

He further ordered the suspect to undergo a mental assessment test.
