Mildred Nekesa, a village elder in the area told the press that the woman was attacked after she depicted strange signs linked to witchcraft when she moved into a rented house in Sikusi market. She noted that the woman was able to escape after seeing the residents heading towards her house.
The residents invaded her house and burnt certificates, politicians posters, pieces of clothes, and dry chicken among other items. Nekesa said that a search was launched for the woman.
“The suspect has stayed here for some time but her behaviour has not been appealing to us,” she stated.
“We are still searching for her, we have almost combed the entire village but our efforts hit a snag,” she said.

Elsewhere in Kapsabet, a 17-year-old girl identified as Sharon Chepchumba from Kiprambu village in Chepkumia location, Emgwen Nandi county is fighting for her life at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital in Nandi after she was allegedly assaulted by her brother and mother.
According to Nandi County Commissioner Herman Shambi, the girl was beaten seriously by her brother and mother over claims that she had been very rude and disturbing.
“Assistant Chief of Chepkumia sub-location was notified by a Kiprambu village elder that a lady in her area had been domestically assaulted seriously. The culprits were her mother and brother. The two said that the lady had been causing troubles in the family and hence they were beating her as a punishment,” Shambi noted.
Nandi county Human Rights chair Simon Cheruiyot Nyoros said the case is very serious for humanity as a hot blunt metallic object seemed to have been used while punishing the girl as she was burnt seriously on her back and legs.
“The act itself is against the laws of Kenya. This is the brutality of the highest order. Very surprising that the brother who is a High School teacher rendered such inhumane punishment to an innocent young girl in presence of her mother.
“The two suspects will be arraigned in court once the investigations are concluded. I have also learnt that the girl had also gone for days while starving as punishment from the mother and the brother. This is serious. But she is under medication, ” Nyoros added.
