Two suspected thieves were on Thursday beaten up by an irate mob after they were caught stealing at a rental house at Site Estate in Kitui town.

The two middle-aged men who were among six others had sneaked into the apartment and broken into three houses.

The trio had stolen electronic goods and other valuables ready to load them on a waiting Toyota Axio car parked outside the gate when they were nabbed.

It is said that a neighbour identified as Mary Mutisya at an adjacent apartment heard unusual noise and commotions coming from the building as the suspected gangsters broke the main doors of the three units of two-bedroomed houses, prompting her to tiptoe towards the scene in an attempt to establish the cause of the unusual noise.
