Nairobi firefighters were on Monday morning duped into responding to a false fire alert at the Quiver Lounge along Thika Road.
The fire brigade intimated to a local publication that they were responding to a call from an unidentified reveler who claimed that the entertainment joint was up in flames.
Quiver Lounge Head of Marketing and Public Relations Fiona Maureen refuted claims that the joint located along the Thika SuperHighway was on fire.
She stated that the caller mistook a common phrase used by the club’s DJ to mean that the fun had climaxed.
The DJ is said to have made the common pronouncement ‘the house is on fire’ with an intention of cheering up the revelers.
The pronouncement, which was made due to the heat of the moment, led the reveler to believe that the club was literally on fire hence the call to the fire brigade.
“That doesn’t mean the premises are literally on fire,” Fiona said.
