Former Bahati Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ngunjiri has said his refused ministerial post offer from President William Ruto when he unveiled his Cabinet members last year.
Appearing on K24 TV on Thursday, January 12 alongside former UnitedDemocratic Alliance (UDA) vice chair Kipruto Kirwa, Ngunjiri said he asked the President to offer him a lesser job.
“It is not a must for me and Arap Kirwa to be in government, because we were not born to be in government and die in government.
“The President had offered me to be a minister but I refused, I said no, I want a lesser seat,” he said.

Ngunjiri said the President is a workaholic and very few people can match his energy.
“The President is very hardworking and I knew the people who will work with him are going to have it tough.
“At 6 in the morning, he is in the office, how many people will go to the office at that time?” He posed.
Ngunjiri retires
The former legislator said he has since retired from politics after losing his seat in last year’s General election.
“My life is not only in politics, and I decided even if I lost the election, I would not do politics again because of my age.
“I had a lot of problems with the then current President (Uhuru Kenyatta) and the governor (Lee Kinyanjui) at that time,” he said.
Ngunjiri lost his seat to Jubilee Party’s Irene Njoki, who garnered 34,308 votes.
Ngunjiri came a distant second with 26,809 votes, followed by Quindos Karanja who managed a measly 2,130 votes.
